We are seeking a skilled and passionate Precision Farming Specialist to join our dynamic team. As a Precision Farming Specialist, you will play a vital role in coordinating with our contract farming operator partner, overseeing rice plantation planning and execution. You will collaborate with our Senior Rice Agronomist, farmers, and internal teams to ensure optimal cultivation practices and maximize crop yields. This is a full-time role based in Solo, Indonesia.
What you will do but not limited to:
- Collaborate with our contract farming operator partner to define rice plantation planning and targets, ensuring alignment with Indico's objectives.
- Work closely with the Agritech Product Team, and have daily sync-up meeting with the team to address relevant issues or support needed.
- Work closely with the Procurement team to identify required materials and equipment for rice cultivation. Calculate budget estimates and facilitate the purchase and distribution of necessary resources to farmers.
- Monitor and analyze plantation data collected by our partner's field agents, collaborating with the Senior Rice Agronomist to conduct preliminary analysis and ensure proper growth and adherence to best practices.
- Conduct and oversee plantation experimentation, data collection, and analysis as designed by the Senior Rice Agronomist. Implement trials and evaluate results to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide guidance and technical support to farmers regarding cultivation techniques, pest management, irrigation, and other agronomic practices.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and deliver training programs for farmers, promoting the adoption of precision farming techniques and sustainable practices.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements and research in rice agronomy, sharing insights and recommendations with the team to enhance Indico's overall performance.
- Able to guide and manage Field Assistants both internal and external to help execute the standardized data collection.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Agronomy or similar, a specialization in rice cultivation is advantageous.
- 1-2 years of hands-on experience in rice plantation, preferably in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of precision farming techniques, agronomic practices, and crop management.
- Familiarity with the procurement process and ability to calculate budget estimates for agricultural resources.
- Proficient in data collection, analysis, and reporting through data processing tools such as Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets or other data processing tools. An expertise in statistics is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with farmers and internal stakeholders.
- Passionate about sustainable agriculture and improving the livelihoods of farmers.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
- Problem solving skills when faced with new challenges in terms of data collecting and recommendations based on data insights.
