Job Description

Founded in Singapore with a passion for new mobility, Bussr is focused on expanding innovative mobility solutions options for transit agencies and transport operators in emerging markets. As cities continue to grow, Bussr will allow urban residents to take ownership of their transportation options.

We are changing the future of mobility with sustainability in mind. Bussr strives to provide a platform to avail efficient, convenient, and cost-effective means of transportation. Led by a team of experienced visionaries and executors in the mobility space, we are quickly expanding our reach to serve the commuting needs of all residents in time to come!

The VP Partnerships is one of the most exciting roles at Bussr - you will drop into a new city and establish the beachhead for the new market. If you’re an entrepreneur and a hustler, this is the role for you! You should be comfortable in new environments, highly entrepreneurial, and obsessive about execution. And you must have a deep passion for mobility.

What you will do - Connect the world

  • You are the first and only colleague on the ground, in the country, during the first few months
  • You conduct due diligence, assess and analyze the market readiness for our Bussr model. We will use your input to decide on the country launch, therefore, your role is crucial to our internationalization strategy
  • You estimate market potential based on all local available data and statistics, your research on the ground, and your market size calculations
  • You analyze and understand the legal framework under which we will operate when we launch in the country
  • You identify the opportunities and challenges of your markets especially with regards to the identification, acquisition, and management of our bus partner and station network, and you meet local public and private transport companies to assess their interest in entering a Bussr partnership
  • You work with external third parties (lawyers, tax advisers, consultants, market survey providers, etc.) to benefit from expert advice on selected topics
  • You benchmark the competition and develop a detailed understanding of who we will be competing with after the launch
  • You meet with all local stakeholders and you attend all relevant industry events (trade fairs, exhibitions, etc.)
  • You work hand-in-hand with various Bussr teams, always communicating effectively as the voice to and from your country to the rest of the Bussr organization
  • You are open to step into an operational role and take business responsibility in your country when we launch our operations
  • You belong to our amazing Business Development New Countries team with other colleagues, reporting directly to Hussein, the Head of Business Development New Countries, based in Singapore

Requirements

  • Excellent Master degree, or equivalent, from a top university in business administration, economics, engineering or a related field
  • Previous experience doing due diligence research within a top-tier consultancy or strategic department of a company
  • Highly social, strong stakeholder management and communication skills and comfortable interacting with different types of stakeholders (e.g. government officials, bus company owners, lawyers, journalists etc.)
  • You negotiate like a pro and have previous experience structuring large B2B deals
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, full of ambition, and a roll with the punches attitude
  • Autonomous and pro-active, you will be our only person on the ground, being trusted with important responsibilities with regards to our internationalization strategy
  • You have the business and financial acumen to build and understand complex models and use that information to develop strategic plans
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to travel up to 30% of your time. You will be doing some local travel within your country, and international for your initial training and for the Final Country Presentation.
  • You speak the local language on a native level and are fluent in English
