Job Purpose
The Bukalapak Search Data Science team is looking for talented individuals to develop, tune, and maintain our online marketplace search algorithms.
Marrying theoretical models with large-scale user interaction data using cutting-edge technology, the team aims to deliver delightful search experience while balancing the complex interests of buyers and sellers at the same time.
As a Search Data Scientist working on that omnipresent search bar, your work will have a direct real-time impact on the experience of millions Bukalapak users and sellers in Indonesia.
Job Description
- Research, prototype, experiment, deploy, and maintain reliable and scalable search matching and ranking algorithms
- Work collaboratively with senior business stakeholders, engineering team, as well as AI researchers in delivering stellar marketplace search experience
- Track, collect, and analyse user interaction data and product performance metrics to strategically inform the continuous development of search algorithms and product features
- Contribute to internal knowledge and team building via written documentation, training session, or mentorship
- Actively promote data driven culture within the organisation
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
- Master degree or equivalently strong Bachelor degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Maths, or related fields
- 1+ years of professional experience as a Data Scientist, AI Researcher, or ML Engineer
- Experience in numerical programming with Python, R, SQL and related programming languages
- Solid knowledge of applied statistics and machine learning
- Strong communication and data presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent in Statistics, Computer Science, Maths, or related fields
- 2+ years of professional experience as a Data Scientist, AI Researcher, or ML Engineer working in information retrieval related fields
- Expertise in numerical programming with Python, R, SQL and related programming languages
- Experience in data pipeline orchestration with Airflow, Spark, or related technologies
- Solid knowledge of applied statistics and machine learning with focus on ranking modelling and natural language processing
- Experience of working with a search engine platform such as ElasticSearch or Solr
- Strong communication, analytics translation, and data presentation skills
